Hi Everyone,

We are so fortunate to live in this amazing city and to have such a beautiful harbour. We see inspiration all around us and Sydney does not disappoint with running of Vivid 2024.

Today at quilting we had a guest Lynne Spears who belongs to the Zonta Club of North Sydney. Zonta is a world wide organisation that believes in building a better world for women and girls. They do this by raising funds to support women who are rebuilding their lives after fleeing domestic violence or a misplaced person from another country. The funds raised are used to encourage women to gain skills by attending TAFE or to give the funds to a women’s shelter. They also hold sewing days to make breast pillows for women who have had breast surgery, make birthing kits to be sent to remote areas in Australia and overseas and help support Days for Girls.

We were able to help the Zonta Club of North Sydney by donating two quilts to be raffled to raise funds.

We had a smaller gathering of members today but we were productive with our projects.

Thank you to everyone who attended quilting today we had a productive day with members quilting, hand sewing and some choosing to knit. Ellen’s friend kindly donated some cotton threads to us as she no longer had a need for them. It’s great news for us as we will put them to good use in our many Community projects.

 Hi Everyone,

Today was the last day quilt entries will be accepted for our show. Iris is now busy collating all the forms and information to be handed on to various show committee members. The show brochures have been printed and collected. Thanks to John for the photography and brochure design and to Deb T for coordinating with John and organising the printing.

Robyn Ja. hand sewed a quilt for her grandson who is a fan of the Beatles the fabrics are based from the albums Yellow Submarine, Help! and Rubber Soul.

Hi Everyone,

Today at quilting we were visited by Krystiana from RizeUp who spoke to us about the ongoing and growing battle against domestic violence in Australia. RizeUp is responsible for the fit out of houses or units for people or families fleeing domestic violence by providing a welcoming home environment. Hunters Hill Quilters is supporting RizeUp at our upcoming Quilt Show in August. 

We were also able to supply Krystiana with 6 quilts and 3 knitted blankets for future homes. 

Community

Jane is delivering 40 Baby quilts to Olivia for distribution on Mother’s Day for Little Wonder @ RPA hospital. Thank you to our members who continue to support Little Wonder by making Baby quilts.

As above RizeUp received 6 quilts and 3 knitted blankets today.

Hi Everyone,

Congratulations to Kathy who attended the AQC in Melbourne last week and was honoured with acceptance into the Hall of Fame. Kathy brings creativity and a passion not only to her business Material Obsession but also to Hunters Hill Quilters.

Today we had a number of quilts at Show & Tell with more bags and hats being completed and returned for our Quilt Show. Thanks to our members who are constantly making quilts for our Community commitments.

Please remember that there is no meeting next week owing to the ANZAC Day public holiday. 

Our next meeting will be May 2nd - Community Day and Krystiana from RizeUp is coming to speak to us.

Hi Everyone,

Today we were a busy group with a Wagga being assembled and another being tied. At Show & Tell we viewed some hats, a table runner, cards and bags to be sold at our Show. Iris has made 50 stunning cards which I have no doubt will sell fast, so get in early for your purchases.

Marie K has been named our ‘bag lady’ for the Show as she has completed another 7 bags and we cannot wait to set up the Stage Sales display a couple of weeks before the show to be photographed. The photos will be published on Facebook, Instagram and our Blog to entice you to join us at our biannual Quilt Show.
