Hi Everyone, 

Can you believe that it is the last week of March? Next week will be Community day at quilting so don’t forget we are starting our Raffle Wagga. Grace has requested if you are helping on this project could you please bring a sewing machine and if possible, pins, and rotary cutters.

Thanks to the ladies who returned their surveys today. Please complete your survey and return it to Grace by 24th April.

The creativity of members in our group never ceases to amaze me. Today Debbie set up a display of book marks to make for our Quilt Show and explained what was happening in the Stage Sales area. Debbie is happy to set up a table for people to work at each week. The ideas were flowing and people were happy to take an inspiration sheet from Debbie’s displayed items.

Mid Week Retreat

15 members so far are attending our mid week Retreat at North Ryde RSL club, 27-41 Magdala Road, North Ryde on Tuesday and Wednesday 9th - 10th September from 10am - 5pm. The cost is $150 and this will include morning tea and lunch for both days. On Tuesday 9th it has been suggested that we have dinner together at the club - this will be at your own cost. 

Show & Tell

Marie K made a quilt from fabric raided from a scrap bin found in a shop on the Tiwi Islands by another member Margaret D. The back of the quilt had plenty of interest with a fish print fabric. The quilt will be heading to Ronald McDonald House in Orange.

Hi Everyone,

I am happy to report that our sign was hanging up in poll position on the railing fence at Fairland Hall today and will hopefully entice other quilters to join our group.

Alison reported that Days for Girls made a staggering 600 bags from the plain fabric we gave them from Deirdre’s donation. It is always satisfying to hear that donated fabric is never wasted but repurposed and reused by organisations such as Days for Girls.

It was also wonderful to catch up with Carolyn for a short period of time this morning who has been missing from our group owing to ill health. We are looking forward to your return to quilting.

🧵Show date 14th - 16th August 2026 at the Hunters Hill Town Hall

🧵Today we handed out a survey that we are asking our members to complete regarding our 2026 Quilt Show. Have your say, as it is important for us - the Show Committee to hear what you are thinking and what you would like to happen at your show. If you were not at quilting today a copy of the survey will be emailed to you. Please take the time to complete it and return it to Grace.

🧵Next week Deb will be have a table setup for anyone who wishes to join her in making book marks. Come and join in the fun.

Mid Week Retreat

Narelle has worked tirelessly to provide our members with a Retreat for 2025 so please note we are having a mid week retreat at North Ryde RSL, 27-41 Magdala Road, North Ryde on Tuesday and Wednesday 9th - 10th September from 10am - 5pm. Today at quilting we welcomed back Ann who has been missing in action from our group owing to illness and to any other members who have health issues we wish you a speedy recovery. Our group was busy as usual with hand stitching the most popular activity. Thank you to Jo who donated fabric for our Community quilts - I am sure it will be put to good use.

2026 Quilt Show

Our show will be held on 

14th - 16th August 2026

at the Hunters Hill Town Hall

We need our members to think of a person who would be a suitable Judge (a local person) for our show and a Charity we could support. All submissions to be in writing with all relevant details - contact’s name, phone number etc and if it is a charitable organisation please include some information about the charity.

We will be handing out a quick Survey for you to have a voice in the running of our Quilt Show in 2026. Please complete the survey at quilting.

Hi Everyone,

Today at quilting was Community Day and our members were busy with quilts or waggas. We received 5 quilts from a former member of our group Pamela who still enjoys making quilts for us to donate to the charities that we support. Grace quilted all five quilts for Pamela.

On a sad note I was informed this week of the passing of Val Nelson who was a member of Hunters Hill Quilters from 1999 - 2017. Her daughter Felicity told me she passed away peacefully. RIP Val.

Hi Everyone,

Another busy day at quilting today with the Management Committee holding a meeting to discuss the holding of our 2026 Quilt Show, also on starting the process to approach HH Council regarding the availability of the Town Hall in August 2026.  We will also be sending out a questionnaire to our members asking about the Show or improvements to be made etc.

We talked about signage at the Hall to attract new members and the design for the handout at the Craft & Quilt Fair.

After the meeting I went to the Town Hall to meet with Tony from the Historical Society regarding the Bicentennial Quilt which needs some TLC. The quilt was in good condition and needs minor repairs.

2026 Quilt Show

To hold a Quilt Show we need your involvement and commitment so over the next couple of  weeks we will be asking our members to volunteer your time and importantly to enter a “save the date” in your diary. 

We are very fortunate to have Kathy and Grace who have agreed to design our Raffle quilts and will hold workshops on our Community days on 3rd April and 1st May.

Thank you to all the members who attended our Annual General Meeting today at quilting. Today we had a visit from June P (Life Member) and she was thrilled to see everyone and we were to see her.
