6th February Community Day

Hi Everyone,

Our first Community Day at quilting today saw projects continuing to be hand stitched and plenty of chatter.

To our members who are not in good health at the moment we are thinking of you and missing you at quilting. We hope you will regain your strength and stamina soon to be able to return to quilting.

We are always looking at ways to increase our membership at HHQ. Thanks to Kathy we have been invited by the Craft & Quilt Fair which is held at the ICC on 25-28 June to have a stall so we can show a small display of work plus hand out information about our group. Please let me know if you are available to help design a brochure or attend the fair on behalf of HHQ.

🥳 Happy Birthday to the ladies who celebrate their birthday in February 🥳. I hope you enjoy your special day.

30th January

Hi Everyone,

We are slowly increasing in attendance at quilting and it was lovely to chat to those who returned today. Our ladies were busy with hand work either doing patchwork, quilting or knitting.
Next week will be our first Community Day for 2025 and I am looking forward to seeing what groups are doing this year or continuing projects from last year.
Our group needs to be thinking about holding our biennial Quilt Show in 2026. There needs to be a commitment from all our members to hold this event and a core group to head up the organisation. We need everyone to be involved as much as possible. At the AGM we will be accepting nominations for the Show Convener.

Annual General Meeting
Our AGM will be held on Thursday 20th February. At this time we will elect the 2025 committee and we need to fill the position of Vice President.
An increase to our Membership fee will be up for discussion at the AGM. I encourage everyone to see the value in continuing your membership with HHQ not only for our friendships with each other but the gathering of people who share the same passion of quilting.

23rd January

Hi Everyone,

It was good to see more people returning to quilting today. We have a busy month coming up with our Annual General Meeting and the discussion of the Quilt Show for 2026. Our group needs to be united in our commitment to holding a Quilt Show. A core group of 15 people are required to organise the event, so on 20th February we will need people to confirm you are prepared to be a proactive member of the Show Committee. I will have a list available for you to view at quilting of the positions that  need to be filled for the running of a quilt show.

Annual General Meeting
Our AGM will be held on Thursday 20th February. At this time we will elect the 2025 committee and we need to fill the position of Vice President - this person is required to step in when the President is unavailable. Please see Sandy if you wish to seek nomination or further information about the role. Ros has emailed 22/1/25 the AGM Agenda to all members please check your spam file if you didn’t receive it in your inbox.

Christmas Challenge
The Christmas Challenge is due back on 20th February. Keep them coming … Thanks Ros and Narelle for  your contributions.

16th January

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to quilting.

We were a small group that gathered today for quilting but owing to the extreme weather conditions we have experienced and school holidays it was to be expected.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a few words about Marie G who was a Life Member of Hunters Hill Quilters and a dear friend to her fellow quilters. Marie was the only person I knew who read the local paper from front page to back page and could tell you what was happening in our local community at all times. Marie’s knowledge of local history, to events past and present was outstanding and nothing slipped past her. Marie was an amazing quilter and she won Best in Show in 2000 with her quilt White on White. I enjoyed my time chatting not only to Marie and Alf but also to other members of her family who I was proudly introduced to when I called in to her home - she will be greatly missed by family & friends.
I would like to share with you some of the lovely  comments our members wrote about her. Marie will be missed;  such a beautiful person; a great loss; she was a kind, generous and gentle soul; always willing to share her quilting skills; such a beautiful and strong person; a generous friend always ready to offer help and support; always ready to chat and help other quilters and we have lost a wonderful, innovative quilter.

May you rest in peace dear Marie

Hi Everyone,

We finished off our year at quilting today and celebrated by holding our Christmas Party. Thank you to Narelle for organising the drinks and to Grace for the flowers to make the hall look festive. To everyone who attended thank you for your time so we could share delicious food, enjoy each other’s company, have a laugh and have some fun with the annual June & Marie G game.

Our group has had a busy and successful year with the holding of our Quilt Show and making many quilts for community, so it shouldn’t surprise you that the Christmas Challenge has been set and emailed out to you today (don’t forget to check your spam folder). Wishing each member and your family a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in 2025.
