Community Day - September 7

Hi Everyone,

Today we welcomed Spring and the month of September. Our members came out of hibernation to join us for Community Day and the hall was busy with community and raffle quilts being stitched with lots of chattering and laughter to be heard. September is the month we celebrate our birthday at Hunters Hill Quilters, so please join on Thursday 21st for our party. Cake and bubbles will be served - please bring your own glass.

To our members who celebrate their birthday in September “Happy Birthday” 🎂 and enjoy your special day.

This week’s TWT newspaper Mayor Zac Miles mentioned our Quilt Show 2024 in the Hunter’s Hill Happenings.

Hunters Hill Quilt Show 2024       2nd - 4th August

11 months to go until our Show so the countdown is on. The Show Committee is working hard to make sure our show is a success. The showcasing of our members work to the community has always been one of excellence. To encourage more people to attend we are thinking of new ideas and details will be announced later, but what can you do to help now? Volunteer to be on a sub committee to assist a fellow member who is in charge of a position at the show. A list will be placed on a table at quilting where you can volunteer your time, so join in the fun and commit to helping out.

Retreat

A reminder that our retreat weekend in November is only a couple of months away. Please remember that your money must be paid by 20th October into HHQs bank account. Narelle has sent an email on the 13/8 to those members who are attending the Retreat. Refresh your memory by rereading the details for our Kincumber weekend.

Hi Everyone,

Today we were lucky to experience a hint of spring with new growth visible from our wonderful outlook at Fairland Hall, and our members were busy working on the Raffle quilts or personal sewing. Our resident Wagga Wizard Grace had a table setup with some eager volunteers to help Sue tie her Wagga. The hand quilting of the Raffle quilt continues and is progressing well. Thank you to Jenny who has sewn our Traditional and Modern Raffle quilt tops together for us and to the ladies who are patiently doing the hand quilting - you are a talented group.

2024 Show

Have you ‘Saved the Date’ for our 2024 Quilt Show? Hunters Hill Council has mentioned us in their enews letter - Hunters Hill News under the heading Save the Date with a photo of our members holding quilted squares advertising the Hunters Hill Quilt Show. We are thrilled to have received confirmation from Hunters Hill Council that they will sponsor our 2024 show.

 Hi Everyone,

That was an exciting day today with the beginning of quilting our Traditional raffle quilt. Grace had kindly basted the quilt and we set up a table so a group of 4 people could begin the quilting. The Modern quilt is being sewn together by Jenny and the backing has been chosen so we are well on the way with both the raffle quilts.

QuiltNSW are looking for volunteers to help at their show so please consider giving some time to assist them if possible. Thursday 14th September help is required for setup through to 17th September.

17th August

 Hi Everyone,

Work continues on the second raffled quilt today and thank you to everyone who returned their finished appliqué work. The creativity at the design wall was in full swing with tape measures and pins at the ready as the rows of work went up. Completed squares and rectangles of sewing were being moved around like chess pieces until everyone was satisfied with the finished design.

Retreat

Narelle has emailed everyone the details of our weekend away to members who have indicated they are attending our retreat in November. We will keep up you to date with information as needed and reminders about payment, so stay tuned. 10th August

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to everyone who have returned their Bird appliqué handwork ahead of the return date. We need  to have all the pieces completed and returned by 17th August.

A huge Thank You to Jenny who has sewn all the rows together on our Traditional raffle quilt it looks amazing. No photo will be posted at this stage but stay tuned, it will be worth the wait!

Sue D has made a couple of quilts for her granddaughter who will be visiting from the UK in September and of course it has been made in her favourite colour, pink. Sue’s next project will be quilts for her grandson.

Robyn J has taken 8 baby quilts today to deliver to Amelie House for us.

Community Day

 Hi Everyone,

Our first meeting for August so that means Community Day today at HHQs. A busy day with groups working on various quilts and a time to catch-up with each other.

🎂 Happy Birthday to the ladies who celebrate their birthday in August wishing you a fabulous day for your special celebration.

We received a Thank You note during the week from Bear Cottage thanking HHQs for the quilts we donated to their organisation. 

Retreat

Our retreat at St Joseph’s Kincumber has been booked and the deposit has been paid. Narelle will be able to give us final details and cost amounts soon, so stay tuned. 

Quilt NSW Exhibition 2023

Hi Everyone,

The design wall was up today for the task of working out the layout for our modern raffle quilt. Kathy and Grace where kept busy with all the completed 4”squares along with the appliqué birds to find the right position on the quilt. Could everyone please have your appliqué work completed and returned to quilting by 17th August.

Retreat change of date and venue. Narelle has been busy on the email informing us of the changes to our retreat. If you would like to join us please see Narelle so your name can be added to the list.
