27th November

Hi Everyone,

Today at quilting was another productive day with our members working on their individual and group projects. There was plenty of conversations and laughter heard during our time together. I feel that our group could solve many problems that we face with day to day life.
I am sorry to hear that one of our members had a large tree limb crash onto her roof owing to Wednesdays storm and that the damage and mess has been cleared.
Our Christmas party is next week so I look forward to seeing as many members attending for some fun and games.
Work in progress around the tables today

This quilt was made by Beryl some years ago but it was wonderful to see it again today

Christmas Party

Our Christmas Party will be held next week on Thursday 4th December and all members are welcome to attend. Please bring a plate of food to share, a plate for your own lunch and a glass for the Christmas cheer. It takes approximately half an hour to set up and organise tables and chairs for the lunch, so no pressure to arrive at 10 or you can make your grand entrance from 10:30am.

Deb has organised the next batch of Baby quilts to be delivered for Little Wonder @ RPA for their Christmas packs. Thank you to the ladies who helped with this task.

20th November

Hi Everyone,

Today I was feeling up to attending quilting and was happy to be back. We are heading to the end of our year so just a few reminders - next week 27th will be our last sewing day at the hall. Suggestions have been made regarding our Christmas Challenge so full details will be handed out over the next couple of weeks.

It always amazes me what our members achieve and today marks a special mile stone for Carolyn who has made 800 baby quilts over the years we have been providing them for the NICU babies at Westmead and RPA. Thank you Carolyn for such an outstanding achievement on behalf of our group.

13th November

Hi Everyone,

Although I wasn’t at quilting today my trusty VP visited me and gave me all the gossip. Don’t forget to put our Christmas Party in your diary - it is always a fun time at quilting.

Helen has been busy with embroidering her granddaughter’s shoes which she ensures us is easy to do.

As per usual the ladies were busy sewing.

6th November Community Day

Hi Everyone,

Today was Community Day at quilting and all the ladies were very industrious in their groups making community quilts all at different stages of construction. It never ceases to amaze me of the talent and creativity of our members and how the quilts come together. I remembered to take some photos today but not all of them - sorry!

🥳 Happy Birthday to the ladies who celebrate their birthday in November 🥳. I hope you enjoy your special day.

30th October

Hi Everyone,

Today at quilting we were smaller in numbers but everyone was busy stitching. The A team under the watchful eye of Iris were making hexagons for their next group project - no pressure Jenny and Robyn S. There is always plenty of chatter and laughter at each of the tables so it makes our time at quilting pass quickly and always enjoyable. It was wonderful to see Carolyn who had a quick visit and of course dropped off 10 baby quilts to add to our supply for Little Wonders @ RPA.

I hope everyone has started their quilt for our 2026 show! Grace reminded us today that you can enter a Collaborative or Group quilt into the show and you can enter up to 2 quilts per person. If anyone is looking for inspiration in making a Wagga Grace has left the Wagga history book in the Wagga cupboard. The folder contains designs, pictures and patterns for you to use or you can adapt for an individual and unique Wagga.

To the ladies who are travelling north, south or west over the next couple of weeks we look forward to hearing about your holiday on your return. Enjoy your time away.

23rd October

Hi Everyone,

Today at quilting we had Laura and Sophie from WAGEC visit to tell us of the work of their organisation, and we are excited to support WAGEC at our 2026 Quilt Show.
WAGEC supports women impacted by domestic violence and homelessness. They offer a range of therapeutic support to women and children to promote recovery and healing from the impacts of trauma, domestic and family violence and adverse life experiences. Support is tailored to the needs of the women and children living in their crisis and transitional housing accommodation. WAGEC provides support in parenting and child attachment programs, therapeutic and psycho-educational group work, art therapy and trauma informed yoga.
We were pleased to donate 7 quilts and 1 baby tummy time quilt to add some colour and handmade love to a refuge home. Thank you Laura and Sophie for your time and professional presentation to HHQ.

16th October

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the delay in posting the blog but owing to technical difficulties that were beyond my control it can finally be posted today.

We had a quick Show Committee Meeting at quilting so we could address a couple of issues. Grace suggested we enter our 2 Raffle quilts at the Modern Quilt Show next year in the category of Collaborative or Group quilts. This will help to advertise HHQ and interest in purchasing raffle tickets at our 2026 Quilt Show. The cost to enter the quilts is $50 and we agreed to go ahead and enter the quilts into the MQ show.

WAGEC Visit
This week at 10:30am we will be visited by Laura who will be speaking to us about WAGEC. Please arrive at quilting early so you don’t miss Laura’s talk.

9th October

Hi Everyone,

Today we had an amazing display of ceramics from Christie which we were able to purchase. Once again Christie showed us her talent and creativity - apart from being a quilter she does embroidery and paints. Thank you Christie for making available your ceramics for us to enjoy at quilting and we wish you all the best on the upcoming family wedding.

Kerry and Grace were busy pinning Kerry’s Wagga which will be on sale at our 2026 Quilt Show. Now for the fun bit of quilting the Wagga. We look forward to seeing it completed.
