Hi Everyone,

Today at quilting we welcomed back Ann who has been missing in action from our group owing to illness and to any other members who have health issues we wish you a speedy recovery. Our group was busy as usual with hand stitching the most popular activity. Thank you to Jo who donated fabric for our Community quilts - I am sure it will be put to good use.

Annual Membership Fees

Only a couple of weeks to go! Membership fees are now due please see Jonquil with your payment if you are paying cash or you can EFT your $120 into HHQs bank account. A friendly reminder for all members to pay before 31st March.

Community News

Deb will be delivering 40 Baby quilts to Olivia next week for Little Wonders @ RPA for her Easter distribution.

2026 Quilt Show

Our show will be held on 

14th - 16th August 2026

at the Hunters Hill Town Hall

We need our members to think of a person who would be a suitable Judge (a local person) for our show and a Charity we could support. All submissions to be in writing with all relevant details - contact’s name, phone number etc and if it is a charitable organisation please include some information about the charity.

Next week:

We will be handing out a quick Survey for you to have a voice in the running of our Quilt Show in 2026. Please complete the survey at quilting.

Show Committee Meeting

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday 8th May.

Craft & Quilt Fair

Will be held at the ICC on 25-28 June. We have been allocated a stall so we can show a small display of work plus hand out information about our group. I will need names from people who are willing to volunteer their time at the Fair soon so please look out for the signup sheet at quilting.

Retreat

Has been cancelled at St Joseph’s. We are looking into holding 2 fabulous days of sewing somewhere local which can provide us with a conference room and eating facilities. We will keep you updated with the details when we have something to report.

6th March Community Day

Hi Everyone,

Today at quilting was Community Day and our members were busy with quilts or waggas. We received 5 quilts from a former member of our group Pamela who still enjoys making quilts for us to donate to the charities that we support. Grace quilted all five quilts for Pamela.

On a sad note I was informed this week of the passing of Val Nelson who was a member of Hunters Hill Quilters from 1999 - 2017. Her daughter Felicity told me she passed away peacefully. RIP Val.

Grace has booked the Town Hall for our 2026 Quilt Show from Thursday 13th being our set up day till Sunday 16th August. Hi Everyone,

Another busy day at quilting today with the Management Committee holding a meeting to discuss the holding of our 2026 Quilt Show, also on starting the process to approach HH Council regarding the availability of the Town Hall in August 2026.  We will also be sending out a questionnaire to our members asking about the Show or improvements to be made etc.

We talked about signage at the Hall to attract new members and the design for the handout at the Craft & Quilt Fair.

After the meeting I went to the Town Hall to meet with Tony from the Historical Society regarding the Bicentennial Quilt which needs some TLC. The quilt was in good condition and needs minor repairs.

2026 Quilt Show

To hold a Quilt Show we need your involvement and commitment so over the next couple of  weeks we will be asking our members to volunteer your time and importantly to enter a “save the date” in your diary. 

We are very fortunate to have Kathy and Grace who have agreed to design our Raffle quilts and will hold workshops on our Community days on 3rd April and 1st May.

20th February Annual General Meeting

Hi Everyone,

Thank you to all the members who attended our Annual General Meeting today at quilting. Today we had a visit from June P (Life Member) and she was thrilled to see everyone and we were to see her.

Special mention and thanks to Ros who has been our Secretary and has achieved a total of 7 years in this role. To Jane who has been our Community Coordinator for the past couple of years, thank you for looking after the quilts that we donate to the charities that HHQs support.

One week to go until our Annual General Meeting. The AGM will start at 12 noon and I look forward to as many members attending as possible. Ros will have the attendance book for you to sign and will be taking any apologies from members who are unable to attend.

Hi Everyone,

Our first Community Day at quilting today saw projects continuing to be hand stitched and plenty of chatter. 

To our members who are not in good health at the moment we are thinking of you and missing you at quilting. We hope you will regain your strength and stamina soon to be able to return to quilting.

We are always looking at ways to increase our membership at HHQ. Thanks to Kathy we have been invited by the Craft & Quilt Fair which is held at the ICC on 25-28 June to have a stall so we can show a small display of work plus hand out information about our group. Please let me know if you are available to help design a brochure or attend the fair on behalf of HHQ.

🥳 Happy Birthday to the ladies who celebrate their birthday in February 🥳. I hope you enjoy your special day.

Our AGM will be held on Thursday 20th February. At this time we will elect the 2025 committee.

Hi Everyone,

We are slowly increasing in attendance at quilting and it was lovely to chat to those who returned today. Our ladies were busy with hand work either doing patchwork, quilting or knitting. 

Next week will be our first Community Day for 2025 and I am looking forward to seeing what groups are doing this year or continuing projects from last year.

Our group needs to be thinking about holding our biennial Quilt Show in 2026. There needs to be a commitment from all our members to hold this event and a core group to head up the organisation. We need everyone to be involved as much as possible. At the AGM we will be accepting nominations for the Show Convener.
