Hi Everyone,

Today at quilting we were small in number but our members have been busy sewing during the week as there were plenty of items to see at Show & Tell. Thank you to everyone who finished their assigned project for the raffle quilt and returned them. The raffle quilt is coming along and I have taken a few photos of some completed blocks. Heather stitched the appliqué onto the centre block of the quilt and it looks amazing - sorry no photos at this stage you will have to wait! I am looking forward to the next stage of working together on the raffle quilt and watching the one dimensional design turn into something visually eye catching.

Hi Everyone, 

Today at quilting we continued working on our 2026 Raffle quilt. The design wall was set up and finished blocks placed to see the beginning process of the quilt. Kathy bravely asked for feed back on colour choice and positive suggestions were made from members. It is encouraging to see the quilting develop throughout the day with colour contrasts and design refinements.

Another Community quilt has been completed and I must say Robyn Ja. did an amazing job. This quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted. Thank you Robyn for all your hard work and now we are looking for a special place to donate this quilt where it will be cherished and loved.

1st May Community Day

Hi Everyone,

A huge day at quilting today as Grace stepped into running our workshop for our second Raffle quilt. Grace was called on at the last moment to run the workshop and she did a wonderful job explaining the design and techniques we will require for the making of the quilt. Thanks to our talented Kathy @matobsgirl who has designed this quilt for our 2026 Show. Team work at the various workstations ran smoothly like a well oiled machine. Thank you everyone who participated.

Deb T has taken 40 Baby quilts today to Olivia who organises the distribution of the quilts to Little Wonder @ RPA for Mother’s Day.

We were a small group this week with members enjoying the school holidays with their families but there was still a lot happening.

We were visited by Moina’s daughter, Jenny, with donations from Moina’s stash including drunkard’s path, clamshell and toile blocks to be completed as community projects.

We were sad to hear that Audrey, our former president and treasurer from 2005 - 2010, passed away last week after a long illness.

Raffle Quilt Workshop

Kathy has designed the raffle quilt for the 2026 show and we will make a start next week. If you have a portable sewing machine please bring it with you. If you prefer appliqué bring the tools required especially glue sticks, thread and needles, mini irons and cutters. The fabric will be supplied.

It will be donated to our community collection.

Wishing you a Happy Easter

Today at quilting we displayed our new sign advertising Hunters Hill Quilters which will be heading to Darling Harbour to the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair in June.

Congratulations to Heather on her Second place for the quilt she entered into this year’s Royal Easter Show. Heather’s quilt is in the centre of the picture below, and she has promised to bring it into quilting with the ribbon after the show.

Hi Everyone,

We had another busy day at quilting today with the continuation of our raffle Wagga - no photos as we want it to be a surprise. It was great to be able to catch up with Hayley today and to hear all her news. You can see the quilt Hayley has made out of batik fabric in Show & Tell.

We placed our order for our pull-up banner today for us to have at our booth at the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair in June. Thank you to Deb, Alison and Suzie who worked on this project.

Last year at our Retreat Ann won the fun game of Strip Poker using jelly roll strips and how do you use all this fabric? Ann made book marks for our Show from her precious stash of jelly roll fabrics - look at the photo in Show Chatter.
